This workshop focuses on providing an understanding of the Post-Tensioning System, an advanced prestressing technique widely used in modern structural engineering.

Participants will gain insight into the principles, components, and structural advantages of post-tensioned systems and their applications in contemporary construction.

Workshop Session

The session will cover key concepts including:

• Fundamentals of prestressed concrete
• Principle of post-tensioning and induced compressive stresses
• Stress distribution and load transfer mechanism
• Components such as high-tensile steel tendons, anchor heads, wedges, and ducts
• Flexural behavior and deflection control
• Crack mitigation and serviceability performance
• Comparison between conventional RCC and post-tensioned structures
• Applications in slabs, beams, bridge decks, and high-rise buildings

Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour.
